What's It Worth To Ya?

That isn't even a fair question. We already know that to you, it's priceless. If it means that much to you, you know what you have to do, right? Insure it. And, before that? Get it appraised.

As is the case when buying your jewelry, it's important to go to someone who is both knowledgeable and trustworthy. Appraisers who have been certified by the American Gem Society, CGAs, have been educated in not only gemology but also the methodologies of jewelry and gemstone appraisals. Their aim is to furnish customers with top notch service and most up-to-date information available. Additionally, Certified Gem Appraisers complete an advanced course on the various uses for appraisals; these include estate taxes, divorce, and collateral. Additionally, they must maintain an Accredited Gem Laboratory, complete with gemological reference library and the gemological testing equipmeny needed in order to provide accurate indentifications. An AGS CGA provides for a fair and accurate appraisal like no other.

Equally important to selecting a reputable appraiser, when discussing your jewelry with them, is to establish your needs and the purpose of the appraisal. The values assigned to jewelry can vary depending on the function of the final report.
