AGS Accredited Gemological Laboratory

As part of our commitment to professional, knowledgeable service to our customers, we have the only gemological laboratory accredited by the American Gem Society in the Mid-Hudson area.

Our Appraisals are performed by or under the direction of a Certified Gemologist Appraiser*. The two most common types of appraisals are Insurance Replacement and Estate.

INSURANCE REPLACEMENT

Insurance Replacement Appraisals quote the current replacement value at the retail market level for insurance purposes.

ESTATE APPRAISAL

Estate appraisals are quoted at ”Fair market” value. This value takes into consideration the condition of the piece and its salability in today’s market between a willing buyer and a willing seller, in a non-forced sale.

The cost of appraisal work is an hourly fee. Estimates and consultations are given at no charge. Call for an appointment.

*The highest appraisal title awarded by the American Gem Society. Certified Gemologist Appraisers must pass a rigorous hands-on appraisal test and a yearly registration exam to maintain their titles. Currently only about 450 individuals in the U.S. hold this title.

INDEPENDENT LABORATORY REPORTS

We can obtain Independent Laboratory reports from the 2 most accredited Gemological Laboratories; The American Gem Society Laboratory and The GIA Laboratory.
